You’re Never Too Old For Toys!
Toy Story is one of those movies that just sticks with you. No matter how old you were when you first saw it, you loved it. Little kids to grandparents the world over adored the tale of Buzz and Woody. However, Jonason Pauley and Jesse Perrotta may be the movie’s biggest fans.
In about two years, they faithfully recreated the entire movie, shot for shot, using marionettes, real toys and stop motion photography. Kind of puts your Alien squeak toy collection to shame, huh? Check out the video that’s received over 4.5 million views on YouTube:
Homemade, With Tons of Love
Jonason Pauley and Jesse Perrotta were 17 and 18 respectively when they started the film. At an age when most guys are chasing girls and hanging out with friends, these two were creating a labor of love.
Sure, the movie is pretty rough around the edges. Wires are clearly visible, and their hands make frequent cameo appearances. However, their fan tribute expresses the same joy that the original movie did, the same wonder that talking toys inspired in us in the first place.
In all, their live-action version took two years and about $1,000 to complete. About 150 of the boys’ friends and family members took on roles as extras to help them complete the movie.

What’s really surprising about this fan movie is that Pixar actually gave them permission to use the original soundtrack, complete with dialogue. And then to trump that, it’s available freely on YouTube. It’s fantastic to see a large, famous studio that appreciates its fans enough to acknowledge and encourage their efforts.
The video has gone viral with over 4.5 million views, but their Facebook page only has about 5,000 fans. So why don’t you stop by and express your love for their labors?
